Mine looks the same. The carpet in my office has tire marks on it. This mornings commute had a suprise rainstorm that I was less than prepared for. I always check weather.com before I leave to check for rain and didn't see it this morning. When I get clear of my neighborhood and have a clear view East, I can usually see rain backlit by the lights of Honolulu. Looked good, but it hit me about halfway and the visibility went away. Guess I get to spend a little quality time tonight cleaning up.

What's the problem? Wipe down the chain, a little lube, and you're good for another week or so. :)

Yeah, I run the chain through a rag every weekend whether it needs it or not. :D I don't really bother cleaning the rest of the bike much cause it gets crud all over in almost instantly this time of year.
2 words: Fen Ders !
There are fenders on that bike, they are covered with road grit too.
This time of the year seperates out the wannabees from the doers for sure.

This time of year coincides with what is normally my heavy travel schedule, the days I am not ravelling I am lugging back to the office the stuff from the last trip, or the stuff for the next trip away from the office.
It is also the time of year with the most lunches, receptions and dinners.
All car based.
BTW - Henry, your Surly is light compared to my ice road ready Battle Trek.

It'll be a bit cleaner by the time I get home tonight in the dark--35 degrees and raining. Woo hoo!

You must have taken our nice weather with you when you went back. The rain hit and the temps dropped. Not incredibly cold, but lows in the 30's. I'll forgive you if we get some snow out of it here in Cowtown.
