I need to buy a saddle for my dad. He is really overweight and has agreed to ride with me so I am setting up one of my MTB's for him. what is the most comfortable saddle I can buy? he is not going to be racing, just cruising. I want something on the wide side but not a beach cruiser saddle. any suggestions? this is foreign to me.

Get a Brooks B17 or a B66 (sprung). To soften it up, apply two light coats of baseball glove oil to the main part of the seat with about an hour between each coat to let it soak in. I have a B17 on my MTB and it was comfy from the first mile. The best price on a B17 I've seen is at aebike.com. Normally, they have the standard B17 for $52 but looking at their web page they don't have it in stock right now. The best place, price no object, to get one is wallbike.com. They have a 6 month money back guarantee if you don't like the saddle (although if you oil it, the warranty is probably void).
