First let me say I did a search and found little or no information on this chain, so that should make certain people happy.
I am replacing my Ultegra chain (10 speed) and am thinking about this chain. I like the fact that they have a removeable link. Do they shift as well as the Shimano and are they reliable. THX
The links are a one time use and not reusable fyi
Saying that, I have no idea how they shift but I'm sure they're fine

Im using the 1090-R with a Sram PG 1070 cassette and the shifting is great, the chain should be a good shimano alternative. However I have experienced less than great shifting when combining a sram chain to a shimano cassette, just from personal experience. Still it's a very nice chain though

I have always used SRAM chains on my bikes. They have always worked great with shimano stuff. The 1090 is no different. I am using it on a dura ace cross bike. The only down side is the link isn't on/off like the old nine speed version. I have heard you can get it off, but it isn't as easy. Shifting is superb though. I can't really give you details about the connector as I didn't use it. I opted for the Wipperman connex as it is an on/off application. It also works great and doesn't impact performance. You can get the 5.9mm version at Lickbike.com. It is the superlink4.

I think I am going to use the 1090R chain with one of there new 10 speed cassettes. They have a 12/26 that Shimano does not have that I believe will be perfect for me. I believe that 1090-R has a reusable link and the 1090 does not, Does anybody know if this is correct. THX

The 1090R has cut out side plates to save weight and thats the only difference from the 1090.

Is there a 10 speed chain that has a resuable master link?

All you need to do is buy a Wipperman Connex link, and you can use with the matching Campy, Shimano, etc. chain.
