I received a nice pair of carbon fiber water bottle cages for my Cannondale R3000. When I went to install them, I found that one of the bolts holding the existing cage on was real tight. I added a little penetrating oil,but then noticed that the insert was actually spinning in the frame. The question is what can I do to remove the bolt? Are the inserts glued into the frame or what? Do I need to return the frame to Cannondale for repair? If anyone has had this problem, I would really appreciate your input!

There was a pretty lengthy discussion here a while past. Try the search function with "cannondale bolt " and you should find it. It will tell you the options are not promising, but it usually works itself out. Here is a link to one of them:

Had the same problem with my C'dale...here's what I did:
Items needed:
Needle-nose pliers (a small one)
Packing tape (couple layers of scotch tape would prolly work as well)
Allen key (duh)
GF or SO or ....anybody that will help you
Ok then:
Lay tape around the bolt holes as close to them as possible (protect the frame)
Grip the "rivnut" (I think that's what it's called) with the pliers, using one hand to grip and your other hand to keep the pliers nose in place, so to speak.
Get GF or SO to use the allen key to unscrew the bolt.....Voila!!
