Howdy. I started riding again this summer to get back into shape, but the only bike I had was an 8 year old Gary Fisher Paragon. So I threw some slicks on it and put 1200 miles on it on the road, when I realized, maybe I should think about getting a road bike.

I really like my Fisher, so I wasnt even sure if I would like road bike with very different geometry and riding position. I didnt have enough cash for even a entry to mid level road bike, so I was casually looking at eBay, and I found this bike that was about 45 minutes from my house. I put an opening bid on it, and no one outbid, so here it is.

According to the seller, its a 1985 Libertas. Shimano 600 group with Dura Ace cranks. Stem and bars are not originals, now Nittos. Wheels also not original (27"), now aluminum, with new tires. It's supposedly set up for a 6 spd cassette, but it has a 5 spd cassette on there now. I need to find a 6 spd, should help the shifting. The saddle was some goofy Mongoose saddle, so I picked up this Specialized from the LBS's clearance rack. It's a 54cm frame I believe. I have also been told that its Reynolds 531.

I like the feel of steel. It has better road feel (less harshness) than my AL framed MTB bike, despite the smaller, higher pressure tires. I also love the lugs, and the cut outs that are painted gold. That's pretty much it.
