Looks like a sweet deal on the Specialized Roval CLASSIQUE ALPINISTE WHEELSET. $650.00 for a 1350g wheelset seems to good to be true. But i may be missing something...anyone have any experience with these wheels?

My blushing bride decided that she was going to buy me a new bike for xmas. (Seems my C-50 (world champion colors) was being eyed by someone else and it grew legs and walked away. As I could not replace the bicycle, I decided to get another brand. After test riding several I like the specialized s-works roubaix.
It came with the Roval Wheels you spoke of, and as I test rode it, two spokes broke (both back wheel.) After I inquiryed further, the dealer mentioned that this is not the first time this has happened to them. After doing some research online, I found others who posted similar experiences. I decided to go back to my beloved Mavic Cosmic Carbones. I hope that helps you with your dilemma.
While I truly loved the C-50, with all the stuff I had on it, I don't have the money to rebuild it the way I like it.

This is the exact reason why I hate posting stuff on this web site. Folks in general seem to think its funny when someone else has misfortune. I saved and worked overtime for three years for that bike, record gruppo, zero gravity brakes, jag wires, stronglite pulsation cranks, mavic wheels. Now the best I can do is scrounge around the garage for spare parts, while the dealers looks at me like I'm nuts. When you guys get ur stuff ripped off maybe someday you'll understand my frustration! :mad2:

I don't know your situation, but the obvious question is why not make a claim with your insurance company?

Wow, We are all sorry your bike got stolen but I don't think he was laughing at your bike being stolen and Yes I do know what it feels like. I had 1 bike stolen, fixed the broken window they went through and they came back 4 days later broke the same window and stole the new bike! He was laughing at the wheels breaking 2 spokes while on your test ride and they wheels were obviously to good to be true, which is what he asked about to begin with.

If it was me I would have replaced the C50 but with a cheaper ( but still good) wheel then the Cosmic Carbones. The price for a set of Carbones makes up for the difference in the Specialized to Colnago.

No no no spyder...i'm not laughing at your bike getting stolen at all. God no. I was simply chuckling at the fact that it seemed to good to be true and it was for the wheels. I mean anything getting stolen is no laughing matter. I worked my ass off for my bike and if someone stole it i'd be outta luck. At least you have spare parts you can dig around in in your garage. I got nothing.

Don't know about the quality, but those new Roval wheels with the huge plastic-looking hubs have got to be the ugliest things you could ever put on a bike. <if there was a vomiting smilie it would go here>
