View Full Version : The New Kish
Nolamatt 12-29-2006, 05:52 PM Well here is my new frame. I stole some parts of my other frame as i am still waiting for my crank and my hweels to be redished. Let me know what you think.
P.S.
I will take better pictures tomorrow when I can get some better light outside.
Mr. Versatile 12-29-2006, 05:56 PM Nice! What's that wildlife to the left of your bike in the 4th pic? :-)
Nolamatt 12-29-2006, 05:57 PM that's my Cattle Dog. Funny thing is she is scared of cows.
tigoat 12-29-2006, 07:24 PM Very cool!
Got to love those ti bikes!

Wow, Matt, it's here! Beautiful! Really, really nice.
Congratulations.
SantaCruz 12-29-2006, 09:28 PM Well here is my new frame. Let me know what you think.
Very nice, clean build. It's about the size I would need. Love to hear about your ride impressions compared to your other bike(s).
llama31 12-30-2006, 03:26 AM That looks nice...very nice. Not helping me in my quest to resist my never-ending Ti-lust (I don't have one but i want one).
I have a question about the rear dropouts. I have a Carl STrong road bike and it has a similar design--kind of a half-circle shell above the drop out. This Kish has the same thing. Anybody know what that's for? Just appearances?

Breezer dropouts. Dean uses them too. To each their own but I find them to be a PITA when closing a skewer.
BikeProf 12-30-2006, 04:08 AM Very nice, and it looks about my size! :) Those welds are smooth. Let us know how you like the new Centaur.

Bolt-on skewers work mightly nice with those Breezer style dropouts and will satisfy weight weaniesm greatly. :D
Nolamatt 12-30-2006, 06:34 AM I have been riding the Cenaur for a while and it is great. I have Chorus shifters and recodr dreaks on this one and will be getting a new rear derailer and crank as these are off my other frame.
Phat&SlowVelo 12-30-2006, 01:51 PM That's the last thing I needed to see, I've been a huge fan of Jim and have lusted over a Ti Road for some time. Straight gauge or Butted? Awesome bike, I love it. (and it's campy) And being that I too have a Aussie Cattle Dog, you get extra points for the having the best bread of Bowser, Plus you have great taste in builders.
I'm going to have to abandon RBR, I just can't take these beauty customs coming out one after another, it's killin me.................
Congrats Nolamatt!
Next thing you know TerryB will go out and get a Kish too, just to twist the dagger even more........:(
lawrence 12-31-2006, 03:01 PM What are Breezer dropouts? Are there any better pictures of these?
I'm looking for a new ride this year, Ti. I was glad years ago when skewers came out instead of cranking down on the bolts like an old Schwinn 10 speed. Are you saying with these Breezer dropouts, I wouldn't be able to use a skewer with the lever that closes and tightens it?

I've got breezers on my Moots, Strong, and Dean. You just have to close the skewer at a different location other than the norm of just under the chainstay.
Len J 12-31-2006, 03:09 PM Nice Build.......
Any reason you didn't do a 1/2 paint 1/2 ti to add some color?
Len
Nolamatt 12-31-2006, 04:04 PM Just like the look of plane Ti bikes.

How does it ride?

Nolamatt 12-31-2006, 05:37 PM Rides great. Just got it out for it's first real ride today and had a blast.

the first ride for me is about fit and making sure everything works.....and initially seeing what I like or don't like about the ride. After that it's all just pure pleasure.
Enjoy it!

Nolamatt 12-31-2006, 07:01 PM Yeah. I had to dial in the rear derailer and will need to move the seat forward a tad and raise it 1cm or so and should be all good. I just need to get my carbon crank on there since the rest of the components are black.
steel fan 12-31-2006, 07:24 PM Beautiful Kish!
I've got a new frame on the way and am trying to decide if I should go with Centaur or Chorus...
physasst 12-31-2006, 08:55 PM the others...gorgeous bike man....I keep coming back and looking at the pics....gotta get me a Ti bike next....if I don't get the XL Boron....hell, maybe get em both...:D

These are Breezer dropouts, designed by Joe Breeze. There are similar dropouts, called 'hooded'; 'Wright' (the Wright Brothers developed them); and 'KGB', by Ibis. They are stiff, but the main advantage is the ease in welding the stays to the perpendicular surface of the 'hoods'. I've never had any problem with skewers; of course one cannot close the skewers in the area of the hood: big deal. Also, skewers such as SpinStix don't really work with these.

zooog 01-01-2007, 01:46 AM Nice bike. Cute Dog...:)
Seamus 01-02-2007, 03:28 PM Nice. Yet more fuel to the 'Kish as next frame' fire for me. Doesn't hurt that he's a couple of hours away, either...
Jim

Thanks. Had heard of breezer style dropouts but never looked into it.
