How many people made cycling resolutions for the 2006/2007? How did you do? What do you plan to do?

In January 2006 my resolutions were-

1.) Ride 3650 miles (I know- about a month's training for some of you guys.)

2.) Take a 30 mile ride at least once a week

3.) Take at least one half century ride

How did I do? 1 out of 3. As of December 31 I had 3719.01 miles. I only did one 30 mile ride, but had a few in the 25 to almost 30 mile range, and I just never got around to trying the half century. I can't imagine it being a problem, I just didn't do it.

What are my goals for 2007? I'm not sure if I'm going to make any- still considering. In order to meet my '06 goal I took a lot more flat rides than I wanted to just to get miles in. I also didn't get on my mountain bike as much as I would have liked. In truth, flat ground road biking is the most fun- and I'm in it for fun and fitness, not competition, but I do like a change of scenery and found myself on those fun routes as an obligation, which made them less fun.

Happy New Year!

I'm new to the road business, but I'm going to push for 4000 miles this year on the road bike. Riding year-round is also on the list and I've been doing that just fine above 35F. I initially started the road riding last month in an effort to lay down some base miles for mountain biking. I'm hoping to place top five in each XC race I can enter this season. So far, I've managed to fall head over heels for the road riding and may enter a race or two this year as well.

No resolutions for 06 but for 2007 my resolution is to take my training more seriously. And to keep me to it, at the urging of a few friends that feel I've been slacking I've signed up for The Pro/SemiPro category for the Iceman cometh challenge Nov 10 07. I can't believe I signed up to race against the pros. Good thing I have till November.

my 2005 new year ( my rookie year ) resolution was to lose 30 pounds but end up losing 70 pounds from 229 to 159. i rode everyday rain or shine ( i lived in san jose, california there're very few raining days that year ) my personal best was 80 miles on my mountain bike and i was sicked for 3 days afterward. as for my 2006, i just want to maintain my weight and it's harder than i expected + i got in to car accident and wasn't able to ride for 3 months and gain about 25 pounds but last couple months i've loss about 20 pounds as i've to ride 6 days a week and eat much much less. for 2007, i want to stay healthy and ride " smarter " and also to be nicer to other people. i used to be a wild and very impolite person. i'll still ride 6 days a week and about 20-30 miles each time and may be i'll try century for the first time.

I've only been riding since june 2006 but for this year I have many a resolution.
Start a family, Be nicer to people as well. I am far to judgmental and it sucks. Also I would like to loose about 17 lbs min. I am also looking to upgrade from my S-works tarmac to a Cervelo R3. Another thing I would like is to make more money. I think this is the year I can do that. Al this and still fill my day with 1-2 hours on the bike, 5-6 days a week.

I want to be under 30 minutes in a local time trial ( 2150 ft. in 4 miles.) I'm not a climber.

we'll see.

Happy new years to all!!

Good luck, and to help matters, I'll save you the trouble of taking that abomination of an S-Works to the dump when you upgrade. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would ride such a thing :D
