i was hoping some of you can help me price out a old 70's/80's raleigh super course frame. it's been completely stripped and polished. lugs are in good detail and there are no dents or blemishes to the frame itself. it's a 54 or 56

used to have that brown finish, it's one size too large for me so i'm thinking about cl'ing or ebaying it but i'm not sure what's a fair price for this.

pictures will have to come later.

thanks,
w

Do like I did, wear tight riding pants and wear softball cleats. Now it fits perfect.
Really :-)

probably worth around $125. so set revserve for like $100, as long as it has the fork. list it as a fixie potential shoot at least 2 well lit photos, not with a camera phone but a real camera.

I got my 36 year old bike out haven't ridden for 25 years, and after made it safe, had 'good' LBS mechanic put (good used) Dura Ace crank and (sealed) Ultegra BB for $100 total (!). It turned a $250 bike into a $2000 bike. Take your time for good deals. It has a ride like no other at any price. Look into IRD freewheels and rachet (no index) friction shifters, but will need to bend rear forks out some for IRD freewheels. The good thing for you are starting from basic, so have to do allot(!) of homework. I'm building it up slowly with touch up paint soon, and then powder coating 'one day', seen on this site ($220+ shipping). But I'm riding every week, which you could do the same thing to see if worth 'good' paint job. It hauls. 'Better' than new AL or plastic bikes with 700 wheels imo. Real Steal!

You would have been dumb to sell for $125, lol. Check out Sheldon Brown for old Raleigh stuff. Great guy too.

If you can make it fit, turn it into a single speed. I wish I had done that with my old Bianchi frame I sold a few years ago.
