I am trying to pare down my collection of bikes to make room and to fund a new hobby (scuba diving) and am down to my two 90's-vintage steel road bikes. I'd like to sell one of them but don't want to regret for selling the "wrong" one. Any advice is appreciated. Here's what I've got:
1994 Bridgestone RB-1 in pristine condition with full 9-speed Ultegra gruppo, Nitto stem and bars and rebuilt Rolf Vector Comp wheelset. This bike is in wonderful condition, fits me well and rides so nicely. But I only got it last summer (frame/fork) so I don't have sentimental attachement to it. It would fetch more $$, I think, than my other road bike, but I don't want to regret losing a collectible classic.
1998 Bianchi Campione in fair condition with Campy Mirage/Aventi bits and upgraded with Nitto bars and stem and Mavic Ksyrium SSL wheelset. This was my first road bike, fits me well and looks sharp. I know it won't fetch as much as the B-stone.
Both bikes ride similarly, fit me well, but have very different pros and cons. While the B-stone is more collectible and is rare (keep), it would fetch more $$ and doesn't carry the sentimental baggage of the Bianchi (sell).
Any thoughts? I haven't really given any thought to asking prices or anything. Just midwinter ponderings. By the way, I also have a singlespeed cross bike (Kona) and a singlespeed MTB.
