Does anyone know the difference between the pro and the sport? I've got an opportunity to purchase a never used sport and was wondering if there were major technological differences between the two.

Very helpful! Actually, I found out that many of the Ergomo Sports with the octalink bb fail in a catastrophic way. Apart from that (Mrs. Lincoln), the technology remains pretty much the same with the computer being much improved and snazzier.

What makes the Octalinks fail more than the square taper? Bearings or the device itself?

I'm not sure, but the failure described was catastrophic and occurred primarily during heavy load (ie. sprints, standing hill climbs).
