View Full Version : Considering an F4:13
geomoney 01-15-2007, 04:37 PM I'm considering on purchasing a Pinarello F4:13 from my LBS. They have a basically brand new frame with extremely low mileage (I was told under 500 miles) and the selling price is a significant savings. I currently ride an 05 Litespeed Siena, it's the last year (I believe) that the frame was built with carbon seat stays. I like the Litespeed a lot, but truthfully it's only the second road bike I've ever owned so I wouldn't know how it compares to other frames, especially an all carbon like the F4:13.
My 2 biggest concerns are of course 1) the ride of carbon vs a ti/carbon frame, and 2) reliability. I weigh 180 lbs, so an all carbon frame concerns me a lot in the reliability dept.
I plan on taking the F4:13 for a spin later this week, but it's likely I will be putting less than 10 miles on it altogether. That probably won't answer my questions about comfort on 60-70 mile rides. Most of my riding right now is in the 40-60 mile range, but I plan on stepping it up a little and increasing that by about 20 miles a ride.
I I would be interested in any feedback anyone has about my questions.
BTW, I thought my Siena was a pretty good looking bike, but I have to admit, the F4:13 just looks so impressive...
triple b 01-17-2007, 02:12 PM I weigh 185lbs. The f4:13 has been a joy to ride. I have done centuries on it and it has been great, you won't be disappointed. i have owned it for 1 year.
good luck

I don't actually own a F4:13, but I have been investigating it a fair bit as I want to buy one in the near future. The opinion of local riders here in South Australia is that the frame is excellent for century rides.

Completely endorse this opinion - unfortunately I am a little heavier at 190lbs. Have ridden around 3500kms - absolutely zero regrets.
I would however pay attention to the wheelset - it is a stiff-frame and as with any, riding comfort can vary greatly depending on the stiffness of the wheelset you choose. FWIW, I changed to a Mavic ES set and it has been perfect.
Cheers

I have an 59cm and really like it. It weighed about 1300 grams for the frame alone, about 400 grams for the fork. I am 6 foot 4 iches tall and about 200 lbs. I think it has a great ride, and a stiff BB area when standing and climbing steep hills.
