I love classic stuff but this one is pimped a little over the line, the overall effect is kind of ugly. Maybe if the photos were outdoors in better light.

take my word on this ... C-Record gold plated pimp show parts is very rare and very beautiful. The ebay pics of the Gardin don't show it well.

GAwd he gets some amazing stuff in there.
I love that store of his.
I have long thought of getting him to build me a frame - just never got around to it somehow.
I should do it before he retires.

I didn't like C-Record then and I still don't (other than the cranks). What up with the front der setup? Bad braze-on? And those Cinelli hidden bolt stems are worthless (had a few, always slipped).

The only thing that is odd is that you can see the pedal in the background.
And those Cinelli hidden bolt stems are worthless (had a few, always slipped).
There are two different model stems that had the round plastic Cinelli logo inserted in the front of the stem. The original one was the 1R. I have heard many say that they weren't able to ever get them tightned, which surprises me as I installed hundreds of them without any ever coming back loose. I believe it is merely a question of the degree of technical foresight of the person doing the installation. In fact, I presently have one installed on my tandem, another on one of my Bianchi's and a last waiting to be installed on the frame that I should be receiving in the next month or so. The later model had a slit in the back on the underside and was therefore a more appropriate engineering solution. When seen from above or straight on from the front, this stem would look identical to the 1R stem. I have never heard any critique about this stem.
