I've had some Ultegra 6501 shifters on my road bike for about 7 years and they finally crapped out. Not realizing my current shifters were 6501, I purchased some 6510 shifters online as a replacement.
Does anyone know if the 6510 shifters will work with the other Ultegra components (all 6501 era)?

6510 shifters will work fine. The differences between 6501 and 6510 are:

- improved internals for smoother shift feel,
- rubber band around downshift paddle to eliminate rattle,
- slightly different finish on the cover plate.
