View Full Version : Lance at Solvang
Argentius 01-31-2007, 10:13 PM is looking pretty dangerous for a retiree. Full '07 disco kit save helmet -- not livestrong gear. Still rocking the SRM.
Can he manage not to enter a race this year? ( I know, he can't up and DO that, but still.)
woodys737 02-01-2007, 04:52 AM I don't really follow Lance, but his face looked a little round compared to years past. Maybe due to the fact we are used to seeing him post tour and all. Only saw a pic or two or him riding next to team president who was also in full kit, as was eki. Just sayin...
I am easily impressed with the level of the cat1-2 guys, however, U23 John Devine at the pro tour level is beyond amazing to me. I'm pretty sure if I trained from early teens on I wouldn't come close to this level. Probably not even domestic pro or cat1 for fwiw. Hope he gets paid his worth.
chuckice 02-01-2007, 05:36 AM I'd buy Eki coming back before Lance.
crossboy 02-01-2007, 05:38 AM Lance isn't making a comeback anytime soon, but will always show up for a little camera time. I am sure he will be hanging around the Giro and Tour during the big stages and then slowly slip out of the cycling circles and maybe win the NYC marathon. You never know what he is capable of.

I don't know him. Just saw he's 21 and was impressed knowing what I know about the cat1-2 guys I sometimes ride with. Jealous really.
I am The Edge 02-01-2007, 08:58 AM Still rocking the SRM.
what is a SRM?
Cruzer2424 02-01-2007, 09:15 AM what is a SRM?
power meter built into cranks.
there is more or less NO reason to use one unless you're training for something...
spookyload 02-01-2007, 09:16 AM what is a SRM?
If you look at his crankset you will see a little extra something there. It is the sensor for a power meter for measuring power output.
I am The Edge 02-01-2007, 09:20 AM i need one of them.

Gee, nice to know that he retired to "spend more time with his kids." When will folks stop playing that card? That guy's always out of town.
waterloo 02-01-2007, 11:41 AM Lance also owns a major stake in the team and isn't a bad guy in terms of experience to have around during training camp. I don't really think it's that he just wants to be in front of the cameras so much, rather cycling is his passion and he enjoys riding with the guys, having a good time, catching up with them and providing a little advice to some of them.
JGUTZ 02-01-2007, 02:05 PM Yeah if I owned part of the team I would have my fingers all over the pulse of said team. Lance is probably assessing the talent and getting familiar with new team riders.
You gotta admit, this is an interesting makeup of riders for DC, alot of new names: Contador, Basso, Levi, coupled with the existing riders that have ridden and helped win the TDF. This could get exiting about grand tour time.

when are you going to stop caring what that guy does with his life?

Lance and his LiveStrong group are going to be in Iowa in July for Ragbrai. You can watch the videp clip. That's along way from France while the Tour is in progress.

Ohhh wait, no comeback for Lance???
Pablo 02-02-2007, 08:06 AM I was going to make some sort of disparraging remark about discussing Lance again, but given this past off-season, talking about Lance isn't all that bad.
JGUTZ 02-02-2007, 08:49 AM I am the Edge, if you really don't like all this lance talk, why'd you open up the thread? The title reads "lance at solvang". Cmon, tell the truth, you really like him but want us to believe you don't, don't you.
Pablo 02-02-2007, 02:22 PM Oh, my ruse has been exposed! For sooth, you sir, have exposed me for what I am, a lover of his Lance-ness.
Truth be told, I'm only 20,000 posts behind BJ II and I have to post somewhere to catch up, even if it is just to kill time and express a nuanced opinion about Lance and our ongoing collective Lance hangover.
Well played.
