Who besides Soma and Gunnar makes a frame where long reach brakes can be used? I'd like to ride this during the winter with 32mm width tires.

Surly Pacer. Excel Sports has frame & fork for $300.

Finished building up a Surly Pacer with long-reach brakes a few days ago. Tires in the picture are older Avocet Cross 700 x 35, which measure an actual 32 mm across.

Find an old frame that was made for 27" wheels and run 700c.. Long reach brakes and big tires will work great

Trek Pilot 1.0, 1.2 and 2.1 which can be had fairly cheaply on eBay.

This is a really good option.

Alternatively, you could get a Kogswell Porteur/Randonneur. Right now, they are only offered in 650B frames, but he should be getting some 700C frames in soon (not that 650B would be a bad idea for you...)

http://kogswell.com/

Many of the shots on his site show bikes set up in "Porteur" mode. Here is a nice shot of three P/Rs set up in Randonneur mode:

Have fun choosing a bike!

I am presuming you don't just want a 'cross bike with cantilevers -- I don't blame you, they are sort of sucky.

Redline just came out with the R760 (complete) and the R77 frame. It's basically got road geometry, alu frame with carbon stays and fork, but it has fender eyelets and lots of tire clearance. For Portland and Seattle, this is great news!

They do sponsor my collegiate team so accept the bias that comes with that.

interesting, but unless their website shows a pre-production model or something, it sure doesn't look like there is a ton of room for fenders:

I think I was told 28mm's with full fenders, 32mm without.
