I had assumed that the spindle was JIS taper but have heard from some sources that it's ISO. I have a Miche pista crank which is definitely ISO. Anyone definitively know if the Hatta taper is ISO or JIS? TIA

If you go the Velospace or Fixed Gear Gallery, most of the bikes using this BB are running Dura Ace 7600 cranks so it leads me to believe it's JIS boneman 02-12-2007, 04:15 PM Stratton from Keirin Culture wasn't sure either and I'm waiting to hear back from John at Business Cycles. Looks like I'll end up with a Sugino 75 set, just to keep the theme going. I've tried all the regular sources and can't find the answer. I can't wait to see your frame built...that is one great looking bike asterisk 02-12-2007, 08:35 PM I am 99% sure it's JIS. The couple retired keirin frames that I've worked on both had them and both were definitely JIS taper. I think the ISO confusion stems from Japanese literature... even the Sugino site somewhere says "ISO" so I think there is something lost in the translation. I don't think making them ISO (Campy, Miche, etc) would be a wise decision anyway because the only ISO NJS certified cranks were the Campagnolo NJS special group that was only made for a few years in the 80s I believe. If ordering/shipping a Miche bb isn't an option look around any LBS you may have for a Veloce/Centaur bb which usually come in 111mm. They are close to the 109mm Miche and will get you rolling. |
