Has anyone in the NY/NJ/PA area ridden in the Montauk Century Ride on Long Island? I am thinking of doing it this year, but am concerned about how they transport the bikes back to either the start point, which is a train station or back to Manhattan at the sign in center. I wrote to a member of that club and got a VERY unfriendly response, as though I was some idiot concerned about, as he put it, "minor scrapes and dents" to my bike with them stacking them into a truck. Has anyone had any experience with this ride? I thought about using my club's hardcase bike carrier to transport, but am unsure how much disassembly I would have to do to make it fit. Also, has anyone ever heard of someone's bike being stolen off of the truck? I guess that bike would have literally "fallen off the back of a truck." LOL
