While I was goggling the Internets I came across this site...Really...this one has all the elements it takes...Can you imagine someone actually wearing that ugly thing?

People have to convince the world that they are good, but behind closed doors 'Hell is breaking loose'. i.e. Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, shall I keep going. The people making it and selling it do not figure someone would have the nerve to criticize 'the cross'. Even religion is a racket. What Would Jesus Do with snake oil....errr.....a beautiful, handmade, knitted cross necklace. It is very tacky Bocephus.

What, are you joking? I imagine that the proprietor of the site will be picking out a new car by the end of the year--and feeling righteous about it, as well. I only wish I had thought of it. . .

I have definitely seen worse things sold online but that is the most craptastic website I have seen in a while. All it needs are old school "under construction" animated gifs.

It's hosted by a Christian hosting company as well. It's a cult I tell ya.

//Note to EDB...no offense meant to vets...I still think the site is tacky. I do hope their heart is in the right place though.

I often attend the "Christian Booksellers Association" annual convention for business. That Christian soldier cross is actually fairly tame compared to some of the outrageous products we see there every year. Some pics from the '05 convention:

1. Da show

2. Christian author meets Che Chic

3. Scripture candy

4. T-shirts with a message

5. Christian bling, I guess. Don't ask me, I didn't get it either

What does 'PO' mean? I had no clue there was such a market for Jesus Junk. Are these merchandise shows in Vegas? Because we all know there is no difference in giving your money to some big haired, lip stick wearing, mascara running preacher or the black jack table at a casino OR is there. If you have a good run of hands at the black jack table your prayers have truly been answered. God bless an Ace and a king, oh and should I double down?

I agree that this site is tacky and just plain silly. Catholics have a word for this type of opportunistic selling of holy symbols. We call it "simony" which is the buying or selling of sacred or spiritual things for personal gain. Buying or selling such objects is fine as long as whatever profits are made are used for noble causes such as raising money for a homeless shelter or funding Catholic elementary schools. But this guy is just trying to make a buck and that makes it simony.

That being said, I will say that your ridicule of this site really says more about your lack of character than it does about this guy's lack of judgment. There are many horrific and awful sites on the internet that perpetuate pornography, sadism and evil. And yet, you choose this relatively innocent site to ridicule. Perhaps you would gain more credibility on this forum if you also gave equal time to ridicule other more offensive sites on the internet.

Hey, you guys aren't our "Great Satan", that would imply we take you seriously whereas in reality we are just pushing a bunch of fools' buttons.

Now back on topic: don't you think this type of product and webpage is ridiculous? I do and I don't. It's ridiculous that create and sell this crap but I take the message that the US army is an army of christian crusaders very seriously indeed, because it echoes Al-Qaeda rethoric about America. The web is worldwide, so people in the islamic world see this as well. Do you think it is wise to reinforce Al-Qaeda propaganda and make a profit out of it? I bet OBL got a satisfied chuckle out of it...

Why, is that a personal attack on a member of RBR? I do believe it is! And a personal attack on character for BJII's critique of web site design at that. I will forgive you though this time since you have such a great wealth of knowledge about porn and sadism and evil websites, and that can add so much to the board.

I have been as critical of the Iraq invasion as anyone, but the US military is not a pack of Bible-thumping holy warriors. Al Qaeda is going to say what they're going to say and I don't think one crappily designed web site with tacky products is going to affect them one way or the other.
