I separated my shoulder and had surgery feb.27th. I was wondering how long it takes to get back on the road to train (Safely or reasonably safe)? I feel like I could do some rides on the trainer in about a week. I was shooting for 2 months after the surgery. The docter recommended 2 months of rehab after the 1st month of healing. I just want to get back on the road. If anybody got any advise let me know.

This will really depend on the severity of your separation, so there's not much general advice. However, it will really benefit your general healing to get on the trainer ASAP and just get some exercise. The increased blood flow will do you good, no matter what your injury.

Two months is a good goal to be back on the road, if your recovery is going well. I've come off of shoulder surgery twice in the last three years, and recently got back on the bike within six weeks. Shoulders are funny -- they hurt a lot and the muscles get tense during the recovery, which sends pain up into your neck. Practice perfect posture. Go to rehab. Do your exercises. Deep tissue massage can be very helpful. The most difficult thing is to be patient.
