By Stephen Hunter, I just read the book Point of Impact/Shooter and I just learned that there's a movie coming out in a week or two based on the book.
After reading the book, I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie. Till I found out that Marky Mark aka Mark Wahlberg is playing the roll of Bob Lee Swagger, the main puta in the movie.
Don't get me wrong here, I like Mark and all, but, if you read the book. You'll most likely come to the same conclusion, he doesn't fit the character from the book. I really hope that he pulls it off though…
Peace

If you get a chance to read the book, you may like it. I guess sometimes it just don’t pay to read the book before seeing the movie, though I’ve been pleasantly surprised in certain cases…
Peace :)

Stephen Hunter disagrees...he said that the book had been floating around hollywood and everyone from Eastwood to Tommy Lee Jones was connected. Heard him on the Tony Kornheiser show and he was happy with Wahlberg as the lead, from what they said, he thought the movie turned out well.

If you read the book the main character is older, at least 6-4 feet in height, very southern like and looked like a tall weathered lean cowboy from blue eye Arkansas, which is where he’s from. He was a gunnery sergeant in the USMC in Vietnam in the med sixties.
I’m sure the movie will be worth seeing and like I said, I like Mark, but Mark does come up a bit short in the looking like the character from the book, is all I’m saying…
Peace :)

There really aren't many tall Hollywood actors. Must be something about how they look on film...all short.

Eastwood is by no means short. Wahlberg OTOH is tiny...
