Hey folks. there are a few decent posts on the felt f1x on these boards but nothing screaming buy that bike! its their only cross bike from them and i expected to find more.

I've got a chance to buy a 2006 model stock from my LBS.

why am i looking??? Ive got a litespeed tuscany from 96 and the 8 spd grouppo is busted and the frames a bit to small for me anyhow. except for the wheels ita all old 105 stuff thats crapped out. the investment to fix is close to the cost of the whole felt with the ultegra 10sp group. also, i mtb almost exclusively and think the cross bike is a good medeium as i rarely road ride but want the option to. i have ok wheels on my current road bike that i can swap in to the felt when i ride road.

besides the heavy handlebar and the low end wheels on the felt----anyone have anything to steer me to it or away from the purchase.

thanks.

I have a 2006 Felt F1X and I've been happy with it.

The CXP22's are decent rims and the Felt hubs seem to be good quality. At least they have sealed cartidge bearings and not cups and cones. I bought Ksyrium Elites for an another wheelset and left the stock wheelset for winter use.

Only the stock 27.2 seatpost seems to be a little bit too small for the frame because it slips and falls down when I loosen the clamp. Using a slice of beer can fixed it though.

Do you know the exact weight of the handlebar? It seems to be manufactured by Kalloy.

I have an '04 and it's been a great bike.

I did upgrade a few things though. The stem is a noodle. I've upgraded mine to a Thompson and it was a huge improvement. I switched to a Salsa Bell Lap bar for better technical handing in the drops. I had also upgraded to FSA Gossamer crankset/BB when the Truvativ BB died fairly quick. I have a Felt carbon post for those non-racing days.

Even though the 55cm fit me perfect, the wheelbase is a little short and I get some toe overlap.

Besides that, it's been a fantastic bike especially for the price. As much as I like it, I'm regretfully selling mine as I've move to a flat-bar CX setup (MTB background).

I have a 2006 F1X and I really enjoy it. It's my first road-style bike in years and years, as I've mountain biked (or sat on my butt) for a long time. I'm sure there are nicer bikes out there, but if you can get a good deal on this one, and it fits, you can't go wrong.

I just weighed my 44cm bar and it came in at 320g. This is from a 2007 bike.
