Me and the kid did 48 miles of the Wheels 'o Fire Century on Saturday. Well organized event from where we sat, and a very beautiful course. Although I wasn't really expecting it, there were even some challenging early season climbs. My sweetie couldn't make it unfortunately, but we hooked up with some on-line friends from Atlanta for company and had a great time.

Some of the entertainment. The ride is sponsored by the local FD.

The crew. Imagine the chicks I could've gotten if I'd had a tandem and a kid in college.....

Great Post. I love to rides with kids. Gives me hope for the future.

This is the Southeast region, right? (for placement on the Photo Post sticky)

What a great way to spend time with your kid that does not involve a TV.

In just a few years he will be shelling you out the back of races like my son does to me. PS, get some toeclips or better yet clipless shoes so he develops a good spin. That will help him feel like one of the gang and also develop him as a cyclist if he wants to pursue racing later. For leg warmers have him use a pair of your hand me down arm warmers.

Looks like a great ride - always good to see parents spending quality time with their kids!

Awesome stuff. Great to see him smiling all the way. Looks like there was quite a bit of climbing judging by that view.

Yes indeed, I was very thankful for the granny ring.

OTOH, we nearly hit 50 coming down from the ridge at about mile 30! http://forum.bikemag.com/forum/images/graemlins/hairraise.gif

Did a few charity rides on the tandem and with their single bikes when our boys were younger. Those rides live among my happiest memories. I'm sure you'll treasure yours as well.
