I just bought a used Gunnar Crosshairs online. I got a really good deal on the bike but sort of concerned with the size. It is a 54cm. I am 5'11" with a 33" cycling inseam. The top tube measures 56.5cm. I have ridden a few 57cm top tube bikes and that seems about right for me. According to the fit chart on the Gunnar site the standover is 31.3". That give me just under 2" of standover. My brother is 6'2" with a 34.5" inseam and has a 56cm Crosshairs and says the 54cm should work out just fine for me. Although he races and tends to prefer a smaller frame bike.
Do you guys think this bike is going to work out okay for me? I got a good enough deal I could always pull the parts and swap out frames for a larger size but I'm hoping the 54cm will be right. I'm hoping to hear from some other owners as to what they think regarding size. I'm both excited and nervous about the bike....it will certainly be the nicest bike I have owned.
Thanks all....

It sounds like it will fit well.
You are best to size a bike by the TT length. If you ride a road bike with a 57cm tt, then a 56.5 effective tt on a cross bike should be perfect.

sounds like a good fit to me. Im almost exactly the same size as you and ride a 54cm surly with a 56cm TT.

Thanks for the replies!

Do you have much drop from the saddle to the bars?

And I rode the 54 Cross Hairs last season. Should work out well for you. Re: saddle/bar drop, I had a fair amount, but I am more legs than torso. I hope that is helpful. Don't worry, sounds like a good fit.

~3 inches. that was by choice not necessity though. you should be able to dial yours in w/o a problem.
