I've been looking for a new clincher wheelset for everyday use and I've come across the new FSA RD - 440 Magnesium Rim with Ceramic Bearings wheelset.

But then I started searching FSA wheelset reviews and it seems like there are alot more negative experiences than there are positive ones (noisy rear hub, broken spokes, etc).

So I could either make a $1400 investment or end up with a $1400 mistake.

Anyone have any thoughts on this ? Any replies woud be greatly appreciated.

FSA seems to take awhile to get their wheels sorted out... if they ever do. I'd look elsewhere to spend $1400 for sure. Maybe Campy or Fulcrum. Better yet, you could get a super nice set of handbuilts for ~half that. Tune hubs, CX-Rays, and either Ni30 rim for semi-aero, or Alex Crostinis for light weight (lighter than the RD-440s).

I wouldn't think of a magnesium rimmed wheel as "everyday". Seems like I remember American Classic used to discourage their Mg wheels for anything other than special events or races, not for everyday. And as you've mentioned FSA's shakey reputation with their wheelsets.

If you're willing to spend $1400 you could get something lighter and more aero (like a set of Reynolds carbon clinchers) or a really really nice set of handbuilts with say DT240s hubs or White Ind. LTA's on Alex Crostini's or IRD cadence's for less than half the money and the same weight. If you really want to splurge you could get the new DT swiss ceramic bearing hubs.
