Good evening guys and gals,

I'm thinking about taking a trip this summer.

http://www.adv-cycling.org/routes/tidewater.cfm

Does it look appealing to anybody? I'm not looking to race it and will probably lay my happy butt under the stars for sleep. 400 miles I figure 6 days at the most. And that's just sort of taking time to get away from the rat race. Anybody interested?

That is going to be stinkin' hot in the summer but overall a pretty nice route (although we like to head west of the city in the summer-Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, C&O Canal, Gettysburg for the hills and shade).

Just make sure that you keep the ferry situation in mind. I'm not sure of the current status, but the daily crossings between Point Lookout and Smith Island are no longer running, last I heard. Check the Adventure Cycling web site for their workaround. It's in the addenda to the map, which you can view on line and download.

Excellent advice! Thanks for the heads up Kerry. And MB, I know...and I'm NOT looking forward to the weather. Perhaps I should have been more specific by saying late spring early fall...
