I think I get just as excited about new tools as I do new parts. On Monday I received my Park crown race setting tool, steerer cutting guide and star nut tool in the mail. Quickly put them to use and got the bike built up from scratch.

That new Park crown race setting tool is slick, by the way. Much nicer than the old slide-hammer routine. And the cutting guide is much better than doing it in my mitre box.

What, The ol' eyeball and steady hand technique didn't work out for you to cut the steerer tube? "Luke, use the force.."

As long as it's not carbon, I like a standard tubing cutter (like plumbers use for copper pipe) for head tubes. You gotta deburr when you're done, but it's dead straight every time.
