View Full Version : small surface area delamination on carbon

A follow up to my previous post. I bought an almost new carbon frame on ebay that has two areas of what I now believe to be surface blemish. The areas are less than half the size of a dime, one on the underside top tube and the other on the seat stay.

They look like a bit of delamination of the resin coating and not going into the weave. I'll have a dealer look at it to verify but I'm assuming this is purely cosmetic.

I'm just wondering about repair? Would you dab on some sort of epoxy over the area?

Any suggestions?

I've had a couple of spots like this on my bike frame (Trek Pilot all carbon). Guys at the LBS said that it wasn't in the fibers, so just don't worry about. And, use clear nail polish to keep out the nasties.
