So this evening, I went for a quick 1 1/2 hour ride before the sun went down. Except now my neck is killing me. I've been on much much much longer rides and my neck felt fine. Funny thing is I moved by seat up ~1 cm. Shouldn't have made this me more upright and less hurty in the neck? Must have just been a bad day for upper body flexibility. 27 miles almost has be out of commission! Anyone else ever have unlogical out of nowhere pains from unreasonably short rides? Talk about emasculating...

You moved your seat up by 1cm. You now have more bar drop than you did before...Sore neck makes sense to me. It might just take some getting used to.

This makes perfect sense, like Dave (above) said. You moved your saddle up, more drop, more angle in the neck...

Sorry, by up I meant up in the fore/aft sense... oops.

It's still a change. Even a small one can yield some suprising results sometimes.

It probably has nothing to do with the ride at all. Probably just some muscle tension or something. Go for another ride or two and see what happens.

i turned my head yesterday while in the drops to see if there was a car behind me and pulled something in my neck. One time I bent over funny to tie my shoe and hurt my back. Sometimes the smallest little things make just enough difference to be a real pain in the, well, neck.

I think it's due to the adjustment as the others have said. Small adjustments can cause problems.
