Finalizing the order for a new Seven, but was curious what top tube angle did those choosing a compact geometry decide on?

It's something to consider...if not enough, the bike has no identity. it doesn't look classic or like a modern compact. In your opinion is six degrees enough to give the frame a compact geometry appearance? amir 04-02-2007, 06:18 AM When I spoke with a seven fit-tech, he initially spec'd a 10-degree top tube slope. During our conversation, and considering my current '85 Eddy Merckx steel bike had traditional geometry, he said he could re-work it to a 6-to-8 slope. I deferred to his judgement - and when seven came back with a final spec sheet - it came in at 8-degrees (with a one cm spacer). While rider preference is important, they slope it to make sure the saddle to bar differential is in line with your riding characteristics. Bottom line, I've warmed to a sloping T-T. celt 04-03-2007, 03:48 AM I've used less technical means of making the decision...I had a one of our CAD guys draw a bunch of front triangles with varying top tube angles. Held it up to the light and decided six degrees looked about right - for me anyway. Thanks guys, bummer I won't see the bike for two months. |
