i've seen these quite lightweight pre-built wheels with medium depth araya rims, bladed spokes and cole hubs. the hubs are unique as they have 2 flanges each side and have a brass peg (bout 5mm dia.) spanning between the two on each side. the peg has a threaded hole to which the spoke screws into. the spoke is threaded both ends, and fixes to the rim with a conventional nipple.
seems like a good system as the brass peg ensures perfect alignment of the spoke, and distributes the forces over a larger area, making for a stronger interface. seems like a good idea as its easy to thread both ends of a spoke after cutting off the 'j' bend, and most lbs's have threading tools.
one of the local cyclists here in borneo is selling a pair. anyone heard of them? any good?
