I usually ride a 54cm bike, so when I bought my Salsa frame, I went a size down for cx, a 52cm. Well, as it turns out, after building it up, I find that the high bottom-bracket combined with my too-short legs means I have absolutely no standover. I wouldn't mind that, but a friend wants me to try some cx racing with him this year, and I don't want to be jumping on and off a bike that has no standover. (ouch!)
SO - does anybody have something with a 53-54cm tt length, but something around a 50cm st that they'd like to trade? Do they make any cx bikes with a sloping geometry? My road bikes are all sloping - compact geometry seems to be tailor-made for short legged folk like me!

The Specialized Tricross is sloped geometry. Take a look at their specs. I think their bottom bracket height is normal. At least it is the same as my roadie's.

Nothing to trade, unfortunately, but a couple of suggestions, if you don't object to used. First, keep your eyes peeled for a '99 (or earlier) VooDoo Wazoo; these had fairly steeply sloped (and long) top tubes. Mine measure 54cm c-t, but only 48cm c-c, with a virtual top tube of 56.5cm and a standover of 31" with big 40C tires. Another choice would be the KHS softtail 'crossers (CX100 or Team ST), with similarly long, steep top tubes. One of their mediums would probably be perfect.

You may save cash by swapping parts to another frame. If you get a good price for your old frame, you may break even. These ones are always on ebay. The sellers can probably give you detailed geometry and standover numbers:

I've seen those Fetish frames on eBay - they seem fine, but I've already got my eye on a new cx bike by Origin8 (a new brand) that is sold through an LBS.

If you are still entertaining thoughts of trading, I have a brand new 49cm Kona JTS frame (custom painted by Kona) and plenty of other goodies to build that might interest you. just a thought. PM if interested.

Origin8 is the house brand for J+B Importers, one of the big bike part distributors:

There were a bunch of them on ebay. I seriously considered buying a 56, but I just bought a ti frame.
Now it seems only the 52 is available. Perfect for you:

Notice that this one is "hidden" in the wrong category. I wonder if J+B clamped down on ebay sales? Seems strange that 2 weeks ago there were a few vendors selling all sizes, and now there is only one.
Same store also has this with radically sloped top tube:

Check out Redlines. They have, or used to have a 48 that had the same TT as the 50.
I'm 5'6" with a 31 inseam, the 48 is perfect.
