Last April there was a fairly extensive thread on the Duke Lacrosse situation. I distinctly remember my posting comments in the thread. I wanted to go back and review what I said then before I posted something on yesterday's developments. However, every possible search that I have done has failed to turn up the thread. Does anyone know what happened to it?

I have the feeling that it was deleted. If it resides in some secret archive, it can stay there. I was contemplating posting something about the events at Duke and posting a link to what I said a year ago. But, I have have decided to remain silent. As a Duke alumnus and a resident of Baltimore, one of the hot beds of Lacrosse culture in the country, I have been subjected to more discussion about events at Duke than I really wanted to endure. I even stopped wearing my Duke t-shirt in public because people I never had met would come up to me and voice their opinions (I had to listen to outrage at the lacrosse players/team/university as well as outrage at the accuser). Very few people or institutions in Durham came out of the last year looking good.

Well, you can blame Nifong and the news media for that. Dan Abrhams on MSNBC is also an alum, and he kept it in the forefront of the media. Slow media cycles didn't help either. The rush to judgment was astounding... Nifong's comments were irresponsible at best, and motivated by his re-election. I hope he's disbarred.

I don't know. I tried to search on it (and I can get at stuff that has been deleted in the normal course of events) and I found nothing. It might have been totally deleted, but I did not do that. It might have gotten lost in a server update.

I don't think Senator Leahy is gonna buy that one. I smell a Congressional supena in your future. :)
