This time of year it's usually all mountain bike for longer rides or maybe some road bike before work. This year, it's cross, baby. Cross. allons-y 04-12-2007, 05:34 PM good to hear. having real mtn shoes will be awesome this year....no more stumbling over barriers and toe spikes for runups.....no more sliding down and having no footing ever. man, i just bought myself 2 spots higher in my results. best part was, i didnt buy them....gotta love getting hooked up. Kram 04-12-2007, 06:00 PM I'm slowly accumulating stuff, too. To date; New (to me) Empella Bonfire f/f, Ritchey crank and a saddle. I'm wanting to get different pedals and I should be about set. (I'll put my Candy SLs on my fixie and get new Candys for the cross rig) Those Specialized shoes? allons-y 04-12-2007, 06:41 PM I'm slowly accumulating stuff, too. (I'll put my Candy SLs on my fixie and get new Candys for the cross rig) Those Specialized shoes? indeed they are. specialized shoes fit my feet well, so why differ from what i know works? you are way ahead of me. my list: shoes - done pedals - to do frame/fork - in the works single ring setup for my current crank - to do tires - tubbies - to do if i have some $$, i may convert it to sram, but prbly just use my 105 stuff. bchuang 04-12-2007, 07:21 PM I've been trolling ebay looking for deals on tubulars. So far I've found two sets for pretty good prices. Unfortunately, I think putting tires on are going to cost as much as the wheels did. I was thinking about switching to SRAM but all the recalls and especially the rear derailleur problems that are cropping up are scaring me away for the time being. allons-y 04-13-2007, 04:42 AM I've been trolling ebay looking for deals on tubulars. I wasn't worried about the brakes. What concerned me was the reports on WW of several people having their pulley cage separate from the rear dearailluer bodies. I'm going to wait on the SRAM stuff at least for now until and see if they change their design a bit. Kram 04-13-2007, 06:16 AM Component up date is in the future. I'm thinking of a new road bike in the fall and I'll probably go 10 speed sram with it. Then, of course, my cross rig will have to be 10 speed, for compatability reasons, you know:p allons-y 04-13-2007, 06:55 AM @ bchuang yea i saw that to on ww. as i said....im crossing my fingers. it seemed like it happend to 3 guys, iirc. not something to be taken lightly, but at least 1 of the cases it seemed like it may not have been the deraillers falt (more user error). @ kram of course !! i got sram on the roadie, and while my shimano stuff is compatible....the different shifting is gonna mess with my head, so i NEED sram. :D pitcrew 04-13-2007, 02:40 PM I wasn't worried about the brakes. What concerned me was the reports on WW of several people having their pulley cage separate from the rear dearailluer bodies. I'm going to wait on the SRAM stuff at least for now until and see if they change their design a bit. I had a couple of bikes (more like 15+) using Force components last fall and we had zero issues such as pulley cages separating from the derailleur body. Everything worked very well. Highly recommended. renhack 04-14-2007, 09:05 PM I just went sram force. Havent mudded up the 10 yet so I have no clue how well it will do. So far I love the feel of it. Had no problems switching to the shifting. Very intuitive. zank 04-19-2007, 01:14 PM Santa UPS dropped off some of my first parts for the 07 build yesterday. Scored some blue Spookys, which will go pretty well with the HUP team paint job. Is it cross season yet? giovanni sartori 04-19-2007, 01:26 PM Santa UPS dropped off some of my first parts for the 07 build yesterday. I have the same crankset on order right now and its probably on a truck somewhere in Colorado, I'm not using it for Cross though. You running carbon shifters and rear chorus derailleur as well? zank 04-19-2007, 01:31 PM You betcha. Complete Chorus kit. Thomson post. Ritchey bar and stem. Flite. Beaters. Spookys. You know...simple stuff that works. Oh...and the crank is VERY nicely made. You will be thrilled. |
