Will Bush try to protect him? Rummy was forced to resign... Now Speedy gets into trouble and there are calls for him to resign, and now Wolfie gets into trouble and now the World Bank wants him to resign...

Do I sense a trend???

Excerpt from a blistering letter from the Chair of the World Bank Staffers Association:

"...It therefore seem impossible for the institution to move forward with any sense of purpose under the present leadership, especially in our endeavor to assist governments and their people in improving their own governance.

Given the results of this inquiry:

1. The President must acknowledge that his conduct has compromised the integrity and effectiveness of the World Bank Group and has destroyed the staff’s trust in his leadership. He must act honorable and resign.
2. The Board must act in accordance with its fiduciary responsibility as the guardians of the World Bank Group and take the lead in launching a global, merit-based search for a new president who can restore the Bank’s integrity and regain the trust of the IDA 15 donors.
3. The Board and Senior Management must ensure that strong Whistleblower Protections are in place, supported by a robust and effective Conflict Resolution System so that this never happens again."

He moved his girlfriend out of his direct supervision with a promotion and this destroys his staff's trust in his leadership? This sounds more like a political vendetta than a real crisis of leadership.

Only those of his staff he wasn't sleeping with I suppose.

Come on SNAKE...a guy was just fired for some words on the radio...and your questioning the validitiy of how Wolfowitz giving his babe a 60 thousand dollar raise and promotion might effect the morale of others in his staff?

I know if it happened where I work...it would be a huge deal...and pretty much zap confidence in the person I called my boss.

Whether this was all above board or not...what he should have done is go to his subordinates openly and suggest this...and then totally take himself out of the decision making process, let them come up with the wage increase and the promotion requirements. It smacks of favoritism...and for those that don't have a chance to sleep with the boss...they might get a bit upset about that.

/no partisanship necessary...

Personally, I like his excuse. He's in new uncharted waters. So am I since I'm teaching students as a professor for the first time. I'm clueless, is it OK to boink one of them? What about up one of their grades in return for a "favor"? How could I possibly have any sense of right & wrong, these are uncharted waters for me?

He wasn't sure but did it anyway without going through the proper channels and gave his girlfriend a promotion and substantial salary raise to get her out from under his supervision. Wouldn't anyone with a decent sense of ethics think "hold on a second, there is clearly a conflict of interest here, I should at a minimum clear this with others or probably more appropriately remove myself entirely from the decision process?"

Conflict of interest has no meaning to the Bushies. Nice to see another one of them exposed.

Well they seem to have more sense than Bush did. They realized he was an incompetent boob right away.

It isn't that I think it is a great deal but it isn't like he was stealing funds from third world accounts and investing in retirement propperty in the Bahamas. It sounds as if she was sleeping with him before he bacame the boss and the change was made with some degree of consultation and to meet requirements to avod the kind of problems he is now facing. I just am not sure the crime is quite to the degree it is being portrayed, is she still with the WB organization? What I read was that she had moved to the State Dept. and if that were the case, what does she have to do with the WB anymore?

she moved to State, but the WB still pays her salary. the enormous, bloated salary she got from her boyfriend.

yah, it's only a little corruption, just a minotr thing, so we should let this one pass. it's not like she was blowing him or anything. oh, wait..................

Yep, she's at the State Department, where she gets paid more than Condi herself. Nice work if you can get it.

well sex is one thing. setting up your bimbo in an influential position, and giving her gobs of taxpayer money is another.

I could imagine the screaming if Bill had gotten Monica a job as undersecretary of State or something. oh, wait, you guys were screaming just cause he made some calls to friends about maybe getting her a job.

Not to me but I'm a lot better looking than Wolfy. I don't think he is going to lose his job because he did nothing wrong. This is just another example of the smear tactics of the DNC to incite hysterical reaction from their constituancy (you)

How is exposing Wolfowitz giving a huge bonus to his GF (all true) and the fact that fellow WB members are upset about it constitute a smear?

oh yeah, exposing Watergate was a smear as well

baahhaahahahahhaahhahahahah....

You're so ethically challenged it borders on the delusional.

Wolfie had to buy her affections. She was making $133,000 and Wolfie gave her a $60,000 raise. That's close to a 50% raise. You think people would be happy when they found out she was sleeping with the boss?

Ol' dude, you need to get a clue!

He says he did nothing wrong and that he acted on recommendations from the ethis comittee. those investigating have the whole paper trail, Wolfowitz has asked that it be made public and they have so far declined to do so. Slow down son and wait for clarification. Hysteria will only make you run in front of a truck.

I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you that Wolfie would do this!!!

After raking other countries over the coals for shady financial deals, it turns out he's been "feathering his own nest"????!!!! Or should I say he's been "feathering his lover's nest"?
