I just picked up a new Cat-eye mity 8 at my LBS works great. I have a question regarding cadence vs heartrate though?
Problem, is you see I already own a "HR" monitor so which of the two is the better tool to help gauge overall output?
Should I keep the mity-8 or upgrade to the Astralle with cadence? and have more info to clog my already very confused mind?
Sorry to all if I confused you.

I just bought an Astrale from Nashbar for $19.95 plus shipping. They're still my favorite.

I think that you need both to gauge overall output. Years ago I read somewhere to set your bike up on a resistance trainer and to pedal at a steady cadence and plot your heartrate vs. cadence. The article claimed that in general, with a constant load, you would plot a linear relationship between cadence and heartrate. Eventually, however, you'll find a place where a modest increase in cadence will produce a jump in your heartrate. That's your AT.
That's been one of those "I'm going to do that someday" things for me. Used to be that I didn't have a heartrate monitor. Now I have a heartrate monitor but I don't have a bicycle that has a true cadence computer.
