Borrowed from another thread, but does this explain why Boonen didn't impress at P-R?

I thought PR was the best ride of the spring for Boonen, so maybe he should sh*t himself more often.

It also explains why he didn't ride Scheldeprijs Vlaanderen the following Wed. From cyclingnews.com:

Intestinal problems have forced Tom Boonen out of Wednesday's Scheldeprijs Vlaanderen in Belgium where the Quick.Step man was hoping to repeat last year's success in front of a hometown crowd. "I had to stop my training because of these problems," said Boonen in a team statement on Tuesday. "Together with the team medical staff we decided to not take risks."

Oh my. Guess the quote was spot on. I thought it was a bunch of baloney when I read it. Cyclists seem to get sick an awful lot...

You've never heard of the classics s**ts. The entire peloton can get the runs after a classics race, especially if it is wet. This year has been extremely dry but if you watch the races, they ride through lots and lots of farmland. This being the spring, there is plenty of fertilizer on the land made with cow dung that has e-coli. If it is wet, water runs off the land on the roads, water sprays up on the nipples of the water bottles and then the entire peloton is drinking from water bottles laced with e-coli bacteria. A couple of hours later, fun begins.

I knew Boonen was "The Sh*t," and this just confirms it.

Maybe P-R was his best ride, but this couldn't have helped him.

I think Lemond still has the record for this-I think the first week of the 89 tour when it was running out the bottom of his shorts and his team had to ride around him so photogs wouldn't get a good shot.

for huge distances, finally rides them off his wheel, and then damn near catches the group in front of him for another high finish. All while dealing with the green apple splatters.

What a frickin man. he finishes that high with that obvious display of internal distress.

How many of these Grand Dames will he win if he's healthy?

I made a poll about it a week or two ago. I said he'd win one more P-R and two more RvV. There you have it, from someone that is right about 10% of the time.

after seeing this, and seeing how he finished high in R-V-V even after taking a header makes me think he'll win far more.
