View Full Version : Cry for sympathy.
logansites 04-25-2007, 01:19 PM I went for a ride today. It would have been 53 miles long. I started off and pretty much just took it easy. I knew this ride would hurt by the end. Im not used to that many miles. So I went slow and all was well. 6 miles from home I got a flat. So I put in my spare tube and blew it up with CO2. My spare tube however was already patched once and the seal didnt hold or something...I havent looked at it yet.
So I walked the 6 miles home. For some reason this has killed me. Im posting from the grave. I feel like hell. :cryin:
BUT MAN IM GOING TO GET UP TOMORROW AND SAY I RODE 47 MILES AND WALKED 6!! Of course Ill just lay there in bed because I still wont be able to move.
I love this sport.

Been there, done that, carry a frame pump now.

And use MTB shoes & pedals... I like my Frogs... They make walking easier whenever it comes up.
logansites 04-25-2007, 01:31 PM Frame pump wouldnt have helped because I was stupid enough to forget my patch kit. When I repacked my seat bag I somehow left it out... just had CO2 and spare tube and tire levers.
Lesson number 2...be prepared.
logansites 04-25-2007, 01:32 PM I have MTB shoes... I just dont think my legs were ready to switch to the motion of walking after riding 47 miles.

You coulda cut the tube and tied it in a knot where it had the hole and pumped it up enough to get home. There are ways if you have air...without air you MIGHT be able to stuff enough grass in the tire, but probably not.

When I had to walk I had road shoes...I took them off and walked barefoot. I had terrible blisters when I got back.

That would really work?!?!
This is why I come to RBR...

It might...I'd at least try it before I started walking. :D

No. I''ve tried it an failed miserably. Bring a hand pump, a patch kit, at least one tube, and kevlar tires liners next time.

I have those pedals and hate them more than injustice, death, and American Idol combined.

In their "to each their own" category I can understand hating something more than injustice and death, but how can anyone hate anything more than American Idol? That's just hyperbole, I hope.
Frogs are the only pedals I ride, road or mountain. No centering springs to pull on the knees, tons of float, no adjustments, fast in and fast out, and no maintenance other than squirting grease in the bearings and dry lube on the cleats.

Quite right. It was just a hyperbole and some of the very reasons that you like them are why I do not. I hate float and the lack of spring means I can't tell when I'm in or out. To each his own. I need to get ride of mine.

not THAT kinda grass man!
Pablo 04-27-2007, 06:15 AM Ha ha. I was referring to knotting up the tube, but that would be a waste.
Touch0Gray 04-27-2007, 08:46 AM to say nothing of a bit pricey.....
