I decided against buying a new fixed gear bike and decided to build one. I have a univega modo vinciere frame that I had powercoated dark green and bolted some campy 10 speed parts on to ride to work. The frame rides great. I like the frame. It fits. I do not know what I was thinking! Instead of buying a new bike, I ordered an open pro White eccentric hub wheel, and the rest of the parts from Harris Cyclery, to build up the green fixed gear. I am starting out with fairly low end parts - EAW cogs, Sugino crankset and bb. I'll get some brake levers on eBay. It already has platform/cage pedals, a brooks saddle, drop bars, centaur brakes. I won't have to buy any more bike hooks. I can't wait to get to work. Is there anything I need to watch out for? If I don't like it I can always bolt the centaur 10-speed set back on; but I am probably going to like it. I'll report back soon.
