Hi,

I'm looking to get a wheelset for a bike I'm building. The bike will be a 2006 Klein Q Pro with 2007 Campy Centaur. I weigh about 190lbs but will lose some in the coming months. My rides are mostly hilly Pacific NW rides with some rain. So durability is important.

I've been riding Easton Tempest II and Campy Vento wheelsets on my other bikes and have had no issues despite riding them hard.

I'm looking at a few options and need some guidance:

My price range is about $500-600 or so. I'd like the wheels to be stiff, black, LOW-MAINTENANCE and lightweight (less than 1600g or so).

I was originally thinking of getting Zondas, but have gotten bored with the prebuilts. So i have some questions for you Ligero fans:

At my weight, what should i be thinking of getting built?

Hubs: Record, DT/Hugi, WI H1, Speed Composite, or Tune hubsets?
Spokes: CX-rays, 28h f/r?
Rims: The wheelsets I've liked the most had stiff, semi-aero 28-30mm rims like Vector Pros, Easton Tempests, etc. Are the 30mm Niobiums more durable than the DT, Velocity, Alex rims?

I know there will be a wait for the customs wheels, but if i there will be significant wait-time on parts such as Tune hubsets, i'd rather avoid them.

Anyone have experience with the Speed Composite or White Industries H1 hubsets? What rims? What have you guys paid for Troy's wheelsets (if it's okay to ask, or PM me)?

Thanks!

I love the white ind Hubsets, mine look awesome and if you do have issues they are in California and always have parts on hand, though i doubt you will have issues.

Thanks for the input. I've been reading the opinions of the White Industries hubs around here and they seem to be pretty good. I'm kinda leaning towards having WI hubs. I was wary of the White Industry hubs because in the mid-90s they had nice mtb hubs but i seem to remember they were problematic.

I read that the axle and freewheel on the Tune hubs are aluminum? I should look to make sure it's true. If so, the white industries hubs may be the way to go unless there is a compelling reason to go with DT 240s.
