ITALY: In the seven seasons I've been riding professionally, I haven't done a whole lot of racing in Italy. It's safe to say I had no idea what I was missing. Traditionally, my preparation for the Tour de France kept me in Spain and France most of each spring. But this year, with the addition of the Giro d'Italia to my schedule, I've been doing a fair bit of training throughout the Italian countryside.

Sorry Tyler Fans. Continue to believe.

I'm confused, you do see the date on the top of that journal entry? Or on his website they say: "From Tyler's webmaster: We thought it would be interesting to take a tour back in time to Giro's of the past. Enjoy"

It's not about this year...

tuck fyler

A little blunt, but don't expect to see him in any Grand Tour or major European race. Tyler's out, time for him to move on.

I'm no Tyler apologist, but before we tuck fyler and throw him to the dustbin of history, lets remember that his win in Liege and that Tour stage were something else, even if he and most of the riders he was up against were on something else.

and also the fact that he's already served a two year ban. Since these allegations are obviously for doping that would have occured before he served his time, how does his suspension relate? Will they nail him again even if OP is connected to the positive he was suspended for at the Vuelta? I guess it probably would've been in his best interest to come clean the first time around even if it meant admitting guilt and tarnishing his image (not that the damage hasn't been done).

I'm pretty sure that WADA or the UCI clarified last year when he was linked to OP that this would be considered a separate offense. He was suspended for blood doping at the Vuelta, and what's been reported documents other instances of doping.

Like the Olympics? :p

But who cares about him nowadays? Even if he was allowed to race the Giro, he wouldn't be a factor at all. He would have crashed, suffered with his trademark nasty grin, been dropped on the slightest uphills and finish way down on GC... or not finish at all. He is done, even without another suspension.

Tyler's performance at Liege does have special significance, as it was after this race that he received the first warning that his blood values were "illregular" and he better clean up his methods

I keep thinking about the same. It just seems completely arbitrary what is seen as "one" doping offense. If I dope tomorrow and next week, is that worthy of two or one suspension? What if I use two syringes today, and only one next week? Are we still just talking about one suspension? How far apart in time can they be?

Ah, fock the rules. Tyler can't race. He is ugly. Jacksche can't race. He gives us bad rep. Basso can race. He is italian. No, wait, he confessed. Or maybe not. Can we find an excuse to let him race? Oh, fock the excuses, I have the power anyway. Almighty focking god.

First, Tyler has looked like crap this year. Second, screw him and his doping chimera. Third, he's been suspended from Tinkoff. All equate to no Giro for him and/or the chimera.

It's not arbitrary. He failed a dope test at the Vuelta, he got suspended. If the Puerto stuff is accurate, he has a long list of other doping offenses as well, that weren't caught until now. When he was first caught, he had the chance to come clean and group all his doping offenses, known and unknown, into one package and get one suspension. He chose not to do that. Now he has to face the music, again, if this other stuff turns out to be true. Don't feel sorry for him. If he is guilty, he deserves no mercy.

So who 'believes Tyler' now?

I seem to remember tons o' people sticking up for him back in the day. I'm wondering where they all are now?

Since he has denied any and all doping - if he is guilty of OP Puerto - then it is a separate offense.

He had his chance to come clean.

But I'm sure the other riders wouldn't like him giving up his source.

They're sailing away on the Good Ship Lollipop, or they've returned to reality.

I had to revisit this thread -

Hey guys don't be too hard on poor ole liar, stupid-excuse-maker, Tyler -- if he is a total disgrace then so are maybe 98+% of all the best racers in the last 15 years. He was a d@mn hard worker and a very good rider. He got kicked out, but with some wins and an Olympic Gold, a bit tarnished though (ooops, I forgot Gold doesn't tarnish - does it?).

And if he goes to work at YOUR LBS - you should go and ask for an autograph, and be polite about it too, please.

Just my opinion. YMMV

All Tyler posts should be in the Lying Thread, or at least, the next best thing, the Doping Thread. It's not so much that he doped, than the fact that in the face of overwhelming evidence, with no evidence going the other way, he refuses to take what he has coming to him. I'll take Millar over Tyler.
