View Full Version : Cool Short Video - Fixie in City Rob T 05-09-2007, 06:15 AM Check out attached link below. Cool video of urban fixies. I actually saw it on the mtbr forum. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0AFpq6jFok superjohnny 05-09-2007, 03:28 PM Very cool indeed. I'd be more impressed if I couldn't do all that stuff already. *cough* Anonymous 05-09-2007, 05:27 PM Sweet. I kinda wish I could do some of that stuff, but I'm a realist. Pablo 05-09-2007, 07:39 PM Killer. asterisk 05-09-2007, 09:25 PM I'm digging the feel of that video a lot. Well shot (the overhead, second story shot is pretty sweet) and the music flows really well. It's from a White Stripes cover album by the name of Aluminium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium_%28album%29). Also, in fixed culture news the one that started it all, that's been raising hype for what seems like ages, MASHsf is finally premiering. Hopefully soon after it'll be available on DVD. http://blog.honeyee.com/mashsf/archives/images/final_poster%20web_borderless-thumb.jpg Pablo 05-10-2007, 05:18 AM I love these videos--don't get me wrong--but when these guys start doing ollies and some other tricks I can't help but wonder why they wouldn't just ride a BMX or a 24" BMX. warmseth 05-10-2007, 05:36 AM ^well those tricks are relatively easy on a bmx. it is the challenge that makes them interesting on a fixed. i expect we'll see fixed gear dirt jumping before year's end :p Einstruzende 05-10-2007, 08:17 AM That's old. Like 108 years old. I just sort of think that if it's tricks you really want to do, and if you want to do progressive tricks and open up new territory, it'd be a better idea to ride a bike that doesn't hold you back. I still think it's cool. Pablo 05-10-2007, 08:32 AM That's old. Like 108 years old. (http://velobici.com/share/0836.mpg) Yeah? If he can do that and come up with a unifying theory of energy, then I'll be impressed. asterisk 05-10-2007, 08:44 AM But you can't easily fly across town on a BMX bike. It's all about being on the bike, enjoying it and just seeing what else you can do with it. Nothing more, nothing less. They aren't trying to be BMX bikes, just utilizing a new tool. Pablo 05-10-2007, 02:59 PM I'm right there with you, although I'm still a bit ambivelent. PeanutButterBreath 05-10-2007, 03:38 PM I just sort of think that if it's tricks you really want to do, and if you want to do progressive tricks and open up new territory, it'd be a better idea to ride a bike that doesn't hold you back.I didn't notice the bikes holding them back. Plus, there are tricks you can do on a fixed gear that you can't do on a BMX bike. Dave Hickey 05-10-2007, 04:31 PM Damn...Those guys are good.,., Pablo 05-11-2007, 06:29 AM I didn't notice the bikes holding them back. Plus, there are tricks you can do on a fixed gear that you can't do on a BMX bike. I understand that there are some tricks that involve the fixed hub that aren't going to be done on a BMX, but I guess I was thinking about air and drops and whatnot. With those tricks at least, the bike would hold you back. levels1069 05-11-2007, 07:25 AM hahah about 2:30 into the video when tehy are coming down the hill...they almost clobber a woman running with her dog. superjohnny 05-13-2007, 10:23 PM This one is kinda cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csFXnIpDTrE BianchiJoe 05-14-2007, 06:38 PM This one is kinda cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csFXnIpDTrE I totally respect the amount of skill, precision and effort that synchronized bike ballet stuff must require, but it's got no edge, knowhattamean? Pablo 05-14-2007, 06:56 PM They just need a new stylist. There's you edge. x3u93n3x 05-15-2007, 02:11 PM i think it's cool when the rider suddenly slides the rear wheel left and right to slow down. that's the "skid stop" right? I've never seen it before, even on footage... |
