I bought this frame from an online auction just over two years ago. Finally this week I have got everything done and its on the road.

Frame: Unknown manufacturer, steel, lugged, track drops.
Fork: Weyless carbon with alloy steerer. The original was quill, and didnt have brake mounts. $45 + tax ... can't argue with that.
Post: Weyless alloy, was like $10 on sale two years ago.
Pedals: Time ATAC ... $10 on ebay
Cranks: Sugino
BB: Sugino
Bars: cut down drop bars that came with the frame.
Stem: no brand off my mountain bike. I stipped one thread by doing it up too tight, so going to replace it soon.
Headset: CK .... it was on sale for $90 ... overkill for this build ... but so hot!!
Rims: Open pro 36
Spokes/Nipples: DT Competition with brass nipples.
Front Hub: early 90s or late 80s campag record. $10 on ebay.
Rear Hub: Phil fixed/free
Rear Cog: Phil
Chain: SRAM 8 speed
Tyres: Continental GP4000.
Front Brake: 105 or similar, not sure, from 90's I think ... came with the frame.

There are some areas that I need to tidy up.

1) New seat post bolt that is the right length
2) New stem .. one that isnt broken.
3) Rear brake mount so I can run it as a single speed when I loan it out to friends.
4) Tyres that wont wear out when I try to skid the rear
5) Paint job ... show off those lugs.

I've not worked out the cost, but the frame was $100, but came with some spares that I sold for $150, so actually a free frame (and bars, and brakes, and wheel bag ... and some campag 28 spoke track hubs that I've misplaced in the garage).

I built this for commuting, as I wanted a bike that didnt need much work done to it, and one that wouldnt get stolen. I love the fact that it weighs so little ... really nice.

Thoughts?

Was the seatpost lug all gouged up on the inside? Just curious because I have an old Schwinn Madison frame which almost look identical to your frame with a gouged out seatpost clamp. I need to find a large bolt to secure the seatpost.

Here are two photos that show the area better.

I bought the frame in New Zealand, and Schwinn has never been big here, so I don't think its a Schwinn. My best guess is that a random frame builder built it up with a cheap lug and tube set ... sometime in the 80's I think ... maybe older?

Thanks
