The green bike is done. The cane creek brake levers arrived and I wrapped the handle bars with some kind of plastic looking perforated tape that looks like the stuff they used to wrap car steering wheels with. I am running a 48/18 fixed and put on a white freewheel, 19t, just for insurance on the flip side of the hub. I have had about 5 or 6 rides, none longer than 45 minutes or so. Impressionns? Riding this thing is a blast! As noted elsewhere it's easier to go uphill than I thought and trickier to go downhill. I learned early on that I can't coast! I can't stand after RR tracks - well, I can but the crank keeps turning. I have not used the back brake at all and the front brake seldom. I have spent a lot of time planning ahead while riding- like when I had my old '64 VW Beetle, I had to time making my moves. I try to figure out ways not to stop; to ride around potential problems. I like that, too. I have not ridden a regular road bike since this thing got operational. I'm going to ride the Cannondale at the Cedar Hill Bike Rally Saturday morning, but it may be a let down! I'd ride the fixed bike, but I do not know the 100k route and figure I'll play it safe. I'll try to get in longer-ride shape before the Fort Worth Train ride next week. Maybe I can graduate to the 17t cog by then.
