I want to put larger tires on my road bike. I can fit a larger tire in the rear (28) than I can in the front (25). Is there any advantage/ disadvantage to doing this?

But larger tires require less pressure to prevent pinch flats. So it can make sense to run a larger tire on the back for lower pressure and thus a nicer ride. I'm currently running a 25 in back and 23 in front. Cant think of any disadvantages -- maybe the sensitive would want to readjust their saddle angle. tubafreak 05-11-2007, 06:22 AM My fixie commuter is running 23 front, 28 rear. It's held up quite nicely, and it seems to be a bit more compliant over the cobbles on my commute to class (it's probably the frame though). I say that if it fits, give it a try, you're not hurting anything by doing it. BBJ 05-11-2007, 08:25 AM I've done that with no noticable difference. It works well in my opinion. I ran a 25 on the front and a 28 on the rear.
