I recently posted a step-by-step "How To" (with photos) on cleaning/overhauling a Mavic rear hub. You can read it by going here; http://www.elviskennedy.com/Reviews/reviews.html and clicking on "Overhaulin' a Mavic Hub". Thanks.

This was just what I was looking for & nice detail too! I am a little bummed to see the wheel must use cartridge style bearings which aren't normally serviceable. I've got over 8k miles on mine without service, so I think they're due. I was hoping to re-lube the bearings, but only if the seals can be removed without too much trouble. How much do new bearings cost if I fail?

An excellent bit of work that, Does this also work for the new ES wheels?

Nice. I was expecting one of the older models like my 571/2s. Those old hubs have 4 sets of bearings... 2 roller bearings, 2 cartridge. Pulled the hub apart and saw dry bearings!
Guess I shouldn't have left the maintenance go for so long!

Replacement bearing prices vary depending upon what you want.
Go to a Mavic dealer and order two #M40075 replacement bearings and it will run you about $35.00.
Go here; http://www.jensonusa.com/store/sub/955-Bearings.aspx , tell them what you need and it should run you about $18.00.
Pop out your bearings and take them to a local bearing dealer (located in every major city) and it will run you about $10.00.
Or you can always pop for those crazy ceramic bearings (check ebay) and you can spend $300.00. Your choice.
