I am interested in building my first single speed/fixie and I am considering a NYCBikes or Pake. Both are around the same price and I would like a basic / simple frame. Any feedback to help with my decision would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

The Pake is CroMo and the NYC is aluminum..
Personally I like the look of Pake better.
If you plan on front and rear brakes, you might want the NYC since it has rear cable routing. The Pake is drilled for a rear brake but it doesn't have cable guides so you'll have to use zip ties...

if the roads are anything like mine (brooklyn) i would strongly recommend the cromo over the aluminum. the steel eats up the crappy surface way nicer than the aluminum does.

i would also check out IRO, they make some similar frames.
