Hi All,
Can anyone give me any direction on what I need to do to use a Campy Record 13-29 cassette on a 10-speed full Dura Ace drivetrain/shifters and fsa compact cranks?
Thanks!

You'll need a wheel with a Campy freehub. And then it still won't shift right because Campy and Shimano cog spacing is different. There is something called a J-tek shiftmate that translates shimano and campy but I beleive that it lets you use Campy shifters and derailleurs on a Shimano cluster, not the other way around.
If you are looking for lower gears on a Shimano system, you can use IRD cassettes or get custom Ti cassettes from Cycle Dynamics (assuming that your wheels have steel or Ti freehub bodies).
J-tek can match just about nay shifter and cassette combo you can think of.

A 50/13 isn't much top gear, it's equivalent to a 53/14. My 53/39/28 with a 12-25 has two taller gears and one even lower.

You;ll need the wheel with the campy freehub + Shiftmate model #1 http://www.jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm .

Hmm. I don't like the idea of changing wheelsets. I am just looking for some extra gears. I checked Cycle Dynamics' website but they have no 10-speed cassettes. IRD does have a 12-28 for 10-speed. Anyone know much about these and if my regular dura rear derailleur can handle the extra teeth?

Cycle Dynamics does make 10sp clusters. They're just really bad about updating their web site, and about answering email for that matter. I bought a 12-30 from them (for a very long climbing race) but got it through Troy Watson (Ligero Wheels). Supposedly Cycle Dynamics will return calls in the evening. I have also heard that they make clusters with the cogs on carriers now. If you have aftermarket wheels with aluminum freehub bodies, you'll need that. Large solo cogs will destroy the typical aftermarket aluminum freehub with shallow 9sp shimano pattern splines in short order.
A standard short cage Shimano derailleur will shift onto a 28t cog but if you also have a 50/34 compact a 12-28 will be a ways over Shimano's spec for chain wrap. Wrap is the amount of chain that the derailleur has to take up, calculate using (big ring + big cog) - (small ring + small cog). I recommend setting the bike up so it'll shift onto the big ring/big cog combination without breaking anything. Some people recommend making the chain tighter and just remembering not to use the extreme cross-chain combination but when you're tired and oxygen-depleted you may forget, and it'd be a shame to destroy a derailleur or chain hanger or frame, and blow your race, because you forgot.
I've run a 50/34 with a 12/27 using a standard DA deraillaur and it worked ok. You have to get the chain length exactly right. I think that the chain stay length will determine exactly how much over spec you can go.
For the 12-30 I use a DA 9sp triple derailleur, the one with the big jockey wheels.

The SRAM OG 1070 comes in a 12/26. A Mavic M10 comes in a 13/27The IRD comes in a 12/28 and the new IRD Elite comes in an 11/32 and an 11/34. A Shimano Ultegra comes in a 12/27.
You will probably find some differences in shifting or noise but overall they all work fine. You would probably be able to get by with your current rear derailleur with the SRAM 12/26 but you'd have a problem with a 27 or larger. This is assuming you have a standard short cage derailleur.

So if I use the long cage version of the Dura Ace rear derailleur, I should be okay with a 50/43 crank and a 12/28 or 12/34 cassette?
Might be the way I'll do it then. I wish those IRD cassettes weren't so heavy though.
My only other option is a triple, but that would also add a big expense since I would need a new left shifter, cranks, front derailleur in addition.
I need the setup for very steep hillclimb events coming up.
