Nice tailwind this morning. Forecast this afternoon is for mid-80's (been around 70 for a couple of days), with wicked headwinds on the way home: 15-25, gusts to 35. That'll be fun.

MB1 05-15-2007, 07:01 AM As usual I slept all the way in to work. Seemed nice and warm as I recall. mtbnutty 05-15-2007, 07:57 AM First commute this year w/o lights. Gotta love the longer daylight........ ..... oh, and got my first flat of the year. Must be the crappy tires I mounted last night. Can anyone recommend a decent rolling, reasonably light, puncture resistant 32mm tire?? slowrider 05-15-2007, 08:00 AM I rode into a nasty headwind. It added a good five minutes to my commute to work. The flag is blowing hard here at work, and it looks like a strong tailwind for me riding home. Maybe? Funny story. My allergies were killing before I went to bed, so I loaded up on some pills. Well anyway, I woke up droogy, jumped on my bike, and forgot my helmet. I did not realize it until I was about 3 miles into my commute. I done that before, but closer to home. I felt weird riding without my helmet. Geet 05-15-2007, 08:08 AM Not much wind here today, just a lot of crazy drivers. I thought they were only supposed to be bad on a full moon, not a new moon too. joey1 05-15-2007, 08:20 AM ... Well anyway, I woke up droogy, jumped on my bike, and forgot my helmet. I did not realize it until I was about 3 miles into my commute. I done that before, but closer to home. I felt weird riding without my helmet. Done that too. At least you remembered your bike. I walked out of the house once still sleepy eyed and all lycrad up and stood there for a few seconds trying to remember what I was doing.... Oh yea! Bike. Still not as scary as the time I almost brushed my teeth with my razor. My commute was uneventful and quiet. Not too much traffic but the cars that were there made up for the missing moronic drivers. Ride home should be hot hot hot. Close to 90 degrees. yuk joey1 05-15-2007, 05:01 PM So today was my recovery ride and a day where I didn't want to get over heated in the first summer like 85+ degree weather (I whither in the heat and thrive in the cold). So I'm 6 or 7 miles into my ride home, sitting up and pouring water over me up a hill when some sleek racer type breezes by me. Since I haven't had anyone pass me in a long while I thought "oh.. a challange!". So even though I'm over heated and there is a HUGE headwind I talk this young feller into following me on a different route. "Don't worry, I'll keep a fast pace" I tell him. (my big mouth) So I haul a$$ the rest of the 16 miles and even though he didn't take the wind once (I'm just saying...) it seemed to cheer him up a bit (mostly because I took him off the main road). My pace was off by 15% from the previous day but it was still a nice pace. lwkwafi 05-15-2007, 09:38 PM The day started out beautifully: superb weather, in low 70s on ride into job #1. score some exams, ride home to work for Chili's gift card. It sure got more humid and rose to 80s. score some more exams and grow weary of luming dark clouds and heavy winds rolling in. Call in Chili's ToGo, hop on bike to job #2 in a little rain (wishing i had flopped to fixed). Enjoy Chicken Crispers, then not enjoy work so much. see rain just continuing to pound down. Luckily it stopped by 1130 for the night ride home. and of course it cooled off plenty. it was surely enjoyable after 14.5 hours at work. would have rode longer but same routine starts early tomorrow. at least no more rain! JohnnyTooBad 05-16-2007, 08:20 AM Done that too. At least you remembered your bike. Usually in the winter, because I'll put my skull cap on the garage to keep me warm while I'm putting my shoes on, then, because I have something stuck to my head, I forget that it's not my helmet. I remember when the sun comes up enough to start wondering why my visor isn't blocking the sun... oh.. no visor because no helmet :mad2: |
