It makes for a much nicer look IMO but you do need to polish them every once in a while (5mins). The cranks could honestly be polished up more, but its fine for now...they were polished over a month ago when I did spring cleaning. Heres another quickie pic with a slightly better representation of the red color....although it changes a bit with light.
